The journey to Clem.Co LLC began with a creative writing award in the third grade, followed by a few Spelling Bee trophies, and a stint as co-editor-in-chief of my high school newspaper. Some years later, after graduating from UGA and taking a brief career detour in other fields, I was thrilled to earn my first paycheck as a professional writer in 2007 from The New York Times Company, which owned About.com at that time. I wrote and edited About.com’s Healthcare Careers site from 2007-2018, which was a perfect fit for my decade of experience in medical sales, sales training, consulting, and healthcare recruiting.
My experience writing search-optimized content for the web (as a long-term contract side-gig) led to a shift in my full-time healthcare career in 2009, when I became Director of Communications & Media Relations for The Medicus Firm (TMF). I managed media, PR and communications for TMF, a national physician recruiting firm, (where I’d already been working in other roles since joining the two co-founders in 2007). With some creative and optimistic PR campaigns, plus some luck and timing, I was able to get our tiny firm’s name in the national news which ultimately helped to grow the company from a <$1M start-up, through a 2009 merger and a 2016 acquisition by a $1+ billion global healthcare corporation. Our new parent company then tapped me to provide media and PR for several sister companies, in addition to TMF. I managed media relations, communications, and wrote industry articles for multiple healthcare companies simultaneously, earning hundreds of media placements and mentions throughout my tenure, including citations in The New York Times, CNN, Forbes, USAToday, MSNBC, Fox News, HealthLeaders Media, Medical Economics, Modern Healthcare, Becker’s Hospital Review, and many more.
In January of 2019 I joined another national physician staffing firm as VP of Marketing where I launched their new website, grew traffic, established a social media presence, attended conferences and assisted with trade show materials. I also created sales collateral and presentation slide decks, wrote articles for the website and advertorials, and obtained several media mentions and PR placements.
In 2020 I officially launched ClemCo, LLC, where I’ve contracted with a number of healthcare companies including a medical media firm, multiple physician consulting and staffing firms, and a national clinical research network. I’ve also worked on media projects for a home health care agency, a medical device firm, the National Nurses March, and more. Additionally, I am a contributing freelance writer for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
I look forward to learning more about your business media needs, and sharing more of my recent work and projects to see if there is an opportunity to work together.
